Alba Ballooning operates hot air balloon flights over south-east Scotland and Northumberland in England. Flights take place just south of Scotland's capital city of Edinburgh over the picturesque Lothian and Peeblesshire countryside, further south in the heart of the Scottish Borders and over the dramatic scenery of Perth, Kinrosshire and Fife just north of Edinburgh. Northumberland flights take place north of Newcastle in the Morpeth to Rothbury area.

We meet you on the southern outskirts of Edinburgh and take you to one of several nearby launch sites either in Midlothian or Peeblesshire so as to best take advantage of the prevailing wind direction. Sites include Penicuik, West Linton, Eddleston and Peebles.
The area offers castles, gorges, lochs and reservoirs, old limekiln ruins, iron age fort ruins and picturesque villages all situated in a landscape that varies from a wilderness to that of rich cultivation. The surrounding Pentland, Moorfoot and Lammermuir ranges of hills, the Forth and Edinburgh's unique skyline combine to give a dramatic backdrop to the whole area.

For flights over Kinrosshire and Fife, we meet you at Kinross and we will launch either from nearby Balado else Bridge of Earn near Perth depending on the wind direction. We may be treated to dramatic views over the Ochil Hills, Loch Leven, Perth and Strathearn on our airborne journey, perhaps identifying jagged Highland peaks on the horizon.

For flights over Northumberland, we meet you at Longhorsley near Morpeth and either launch from nearby or travel a short distance to Morpeth or Rothbury if the wind direction so dictates. Flights will take you over the picturesque Northumberland scenery between the National Park to the west and the coast to the east.
