Hot air balloon party takes place in ideal weather despite storms

The ‘Glitter and Glow Block Party’, a hot air balloon event held in Glendale, US, recently took place in superb weather conditions – despite the storms that have plagued many parts of the country throughout the last month. The event, which is in its 19th year, was highly praised by attendees, one of whom was Andrea Bond, who stayed nearby at the Paradise RV Resort in Sun City with her husband, Gene. Originally from the Midwest, it is the couple’s first visit to the event. Discussing the Glitter and Glow Block Party, Bond said:
“Oh my gosh, it’s amazing. We saw the one hot air balloon being set up and now we just saw it being taken down. It’s just amazing.”
A considerable number of other visitors to the event were also there for the first time. These included balloon enthusiasts from Canada, Washington and Chicago. Manager of the Glendale Convention Visitors Bureau, Lorraine Pino, said:
“The warm weather played a big part in the size of the crowd. A lot of Midwesterners were wearing shorts tonight.”
Pino was flattered by the varied compliments she received from both newcomers and those who had already visited the event for a number of years. Ron and Marla Yablon, from Peoria in the US state of Illinois, were an example of the latter. Marla said that the food and the lights are a lot of fun, but the balloons are her favourite part. According to your West Valley.com, her husband, Ron, liked the funnel cakes.
