Hot air balloons and Bristol will always be inextricably linked. Not only was Bristol home to the first ever modern hot air balloon in Britain, the Bristol Belle, but it is also home to one of the world’s best known hot air balloon Manufactures, Cameron Balloons, and one of the world’s biggest and best hot air balloon festivals – The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta. This is not really surprising when you consider the fact that Bristol is absolutely one of the best places to take a hot air balloon trip in the UK.

The great thing about Bristol is that it is home to so many natural wonders that no matter which direction the wind is blowing in, you will never be far from a site of truly outstanding beauty.

Avon Gorge

Of course, one of Bristol’s most impressive sights is Avon Gorge – a 1.5 mile-long gorge that forges a path through stunning limestone ridges that are home to peregrine falcons, gulls and horseshoe bats, which if you are lucky enough, you might spot going about their business as your balloon flies over the scenery.

Brandon Hill Nature Park

Another good place to see nature in all its glory is Brandon Hill Nature Park, which is home to a healthy squirrel population, as well as lovely ponds. Thanks to its close proximity to the sea, you can also look out over Bristol’s docks with a 360-degree view only a hot air balloon ride can afford you.

The Cotswolds

Of course, when you take off on a hot air balloon ride over Bristol, you could well find yourself hovering high above the Cotswolds, an area of such outstanding beauty that you cannot fail to be moved by all that nature has to offer. From Jurassic limestone hills to butterfly-filled flower fields and all manner of interesting wildlife you’d be hard pressed to spot on foot, it has a natural beauty that has to be seen to be believed.
