How to prepare to take to the skies

There are various methods of transport you could use if you wish to explore an area such as Buckinghamshire, the more common choices being by car, train or by foot. Another slightly less common, but very exhilarating, mode of transport that will enable you to soar through the sky and soak up your surrounding sights and sounds would be a hot air balloon ride. By taking to the skies to explore this home county, which was the inspiration for many of Roald Dahl’s stories, you will get to see where the famous author got his ideas from, as well as enjoy the architectural structures of the largest number of National Trust properties in the country. Having made the decision to use the experience of a hot air balloon trip for a different perspective on Buckinghamshire, it is worth taking the time to properly prepare to ensure you get the most out of your time in the air. Think about the time of your take off, and dress accordingly as you want to avoid being chilly. Opting for several layers of clothing is a sensible option if it's a little colder. Outer layers can then be removed if you get too warm once in the hot air balloon basket and take off has commenced. Ballooning season usually spans April to October, when a range of weather types and temperatures can prevail. Choose sensible, comfortable footwear. You will generally be on your feet for the duration of the trip, in order to get the maximum benefit from the balloon trip and see the sights your surroundings has to offer, so a flat shoe or trainer is most suitable. This will also make boarding and departing from the hot air balloon basket easier. When it comes to deciding what to pack for your trip, again the time of the flight will be an influencing factor. You may wish to take a drink and something light to eat, and don’t forget to take your camera to capture the views of the surrounding landscape. Your pilot will brief you before take off, about what to expect and how best to prepare for landing. Whilst you may come down to earth with a slight bump as you touch down after your trip, the time spent in the air is the complete opposite. A calming and peaceful journey through the skies, you will be in the perfect position to take some great shots for your picture album, and make some wonderful memories of the day.
