Spend summer 2016 in Bath

If you are planning to stay in the UK this summer, then one destination you absolutely must visit is the beautiful city of Bath, which is a World Heritage Site in its own right. Perhaps, best known for its thermal spas, the city has a lot to offer people of all ages, making it the perfect family destination. If you decide to go to Bath, here are some of the most exciting things you could get up to this summer: Hot air balloon rides in Bath Probably the most exciting activity you and your family could do this summer is a hot air balloon ride over the city. Setting off at either sunrise or sunset, you will be taken on a whirlwind tour of some of the city’s most famous landmarks, which could include anything from the city’s many fabulous Georgian buildings to the Roman Baths, or some of the beautiful Somerset countryside, brimming with flora and fauna of all kinds. Capability Brown’s 300th anniversary 2016 is the 300th anniversary of Capability Brown’s birth. For those of you who don’t know Capability Brown was England’s best gardener, who created a number of unforgettable green spaces throughout England. What better way to pay tribute to the man than to visit some of the gardens he designed? Many are located in and around Bath, including Bath Spa University’s Newton Park campus, which boasts a nature reserve, woods, fields, a 15th century castle and even a lakeside walk – perfect for the warm summer months. Bath Thai Festival Taking place in Royal Victoria Park on 2-3 July, this two-day festival event brings the exotic to England. Visitors will be treated to all that is magical about the wonderful Asian country of Thailand, including its food, culture and art. You will be able to get a traditional Thai massage, and a Miss Thailand of Great Britain competition will be held. Of course, no celebration of Thailand would be complete without a song and dance show, and this festival has a great one. Bath Folk Festival If music is more your thing, you will probably enjoy the Bath Folk Festival which takes place on the 6-14 August this year in Central Bath. Budding musicians will be able to participate in workshops, whilst a number of live gigs will also be taking place for the duration of the festival.
