Take a balloon ride over Lincolnshire’s history

If you are looking for a good place to take a hot air balloon flight in the UK, then why not book an unforgettable hot air balloon ride through the historical county of Lincolnshire in the east of the country.

There are a number of different launch sites in the county, which is packed with historical landmarks and natural points of interest, meaning you can always find something to interest you when you fly through the Lincolnshire skies.

Tupholme Abbey

Lincolnshire is a historical county, which boasts a lot of fantastic historical points of interest and hot air balloon rides enable you to view them in much more detail than you may be able to from the ground.

One of Lincolnshire’s most impressive historical landmarks is Tupholme Abbey, which is one of only nine monastic abbeys built in the medieval period. Although the building has been reduced to ruins, you would be hard pressed to find more magnificent ruins, especially at dusk and dawn when the abbey is wonderfully illuminated.

Bomber command spire

This unique piece of public art, located in the town of Lincoln, may not be historical in itself, but it forms part of a memorial to the Lancaster Bombers – in fact its unique shape is based on the design of the Lancaster Bombers’ wings.

When flying over this monument, you will be blown away by its unique painted design that dramatically changes the skyline of the city.

Lincoln Cathedral

For almost 1,000 years, the magnificent Lincoln Cathedral, which dates back to 1088, is a magnificent example of medieval building, as well as architectural styles from several later periods. Imposing and interesting in equal measures, this is one building that demands to be viewed from the vantage of a hot air balloon.
