Cambridge prepares for annual balloon festival

Organisers of a balloon festival in Cambridge, Massachusetts are busy preparing for the event, which is running for the 16th year. The Cambridge Valley Balloon Festival will take place from the 3rd-5th June this year, with preparations already underway. The festival provides entertainment for all the family, with balloon launches, craft fairs, farmers' markets, carnival games, rides and concerts. The event is sponsored by Cambridge Valley Chamber of Commerce, with hot air balloon launches taking place at Cambridge Central School, although this will depend on the weather conditions and wind speeds on the day. There are four launches planned for the festival, with 10 hot air balloons set to be launched at each one. This will take place on the Friday night, Saturday morning and evening and the final one will take place on Sunday morning. In the mornings, the usual time for the balloon launch is around 5.30am and the evening event is held at 7pm. Local restaurants and food producers offer samples of their cuisine at a “Taste of Cambridge” event, which is also organised by the Cambridge Valley Chamber of Commerce. Tethered balloons will be featured in the Moon Glow, all lit from inside and moving to music. A pilot's breakfast will end the event, held at the Cambridge American Legion. An increasing number of people are becoming interested in hot air balloons, especially the balloon flights which are available to members of the public, who often want to celebrate a special occasion high above the ground with amazing views.
