Could an Oxford hot air balloon trip bring out the artist in you?

Aviation fans who are handy with a paintbrush will be interested to know that a painting depicting an aerial view of Oxford, created following several hot air balloon flights, is due to be put up for auction towards the end of this month. The artwork has been dated as being made at the end of the 19th Century, and was created by artist William Brewer, who took to the skies in order to get a novel perspective of the area looking out from Magdalen Bridge. The artwork is expected to reach somewhere between £500 and £1000 when the auction takes place. The current owners have had the painting for a number of years and have strong ties to Oxford itself academically, but have decided the time has come to let someone else enjoy its beauty. Taking to the skies to enjoy a hot air balloon ride over Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas is a great way to soak up the sights and sounds of your surroundings. With around 1,500 listed building, there will be plenty of architecture to look out for. With its unusual honey coloured limestone, it may feel like you are floating through a fairy-tale story. A hot air balloon provides a great vantage point, and a way to see things from a different perspective, as William Brewer did when creating his masterpiece. It will be easy to see how Oxfordshire has inspired numerous writers and filmmakers from around the world. It is worth taking the time to ensure that you are prepared for your balloon flight. Make sure that you wear suitable clothing for the weather conditions, and have a camera or camcorder to take a visual reminder of the event.
