Have fun in the sun in Gloucestershire this summer

If you are looking for a summer getaway in the United Kingdom this summer, there can be no greater place than the beautiful county of Gloucestershire. It's one of the most picturesque places in the whole of England, thanks to its location in the South West of England, close to the rolling Cotswold Hills, the Forest of Dean, which is brimming with flora and fauna of all kinds, and the snaking River Severn. Of course, there are also plenty of great activities you can participate in in the county this summer. Here are some of the most interesting: Hot air balloon rides in Gloucestershire Hot air balloon rides are perhaps best taken during the summer months, when not only is it warmer, but also the weather tends to be calmer, which is ideal for a hot air balloon launch. Taking a hot air balloon ride is the perfect way to explore any place, but it is particularly good for taking in the many delights of the Gloucestershire countryside, because you can see so much more with a bird's eye view than you could ever hope to spy from ground level. Brewin Dolphine Cheltenham Cricket Festival 2016 Taking place between 13-24 July this year, this fabulous festival will delight cricket fans, who will be able to watch their favourite sport in beautiful surroundings at Cheltenham College. Penguin Week There are few people who few to be charmed by the amusing antic of penguins, so if you have some time to spare between 28 May and 5 June this year, why not pop along to Birdland in Bourton-on-the-Water? It's Penguin Week there, where you and your family will be given the opportunity to handfeed the loveable black and white birds whilst learning more about the species from the professionals. Tudor Fun If you and your family are fascinated by British history, you will love the Tudor Fun Day, which will take place at Sudeley Castle on the 3rd of July. The event will transport you back to 1535, where you will be able to mingle with Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn whilst exploring the castle’s beautifully maintained gardens. Birds of Prey will also be on display, and there will even be junior jousting tournaments, where the kids will be able to show off their skills against the Black Knight. Craft lovers will also be pleased to know that a Cotswold Craft Room will be available, with Tudor mask making skills the order of the day.
