Highlights of a balloon flight across Hertfordshire

One of the home counties and rich in history, Hertfordshire is a wonderful place to make a balloon flight.

Whether taking to the skies in the winter months with its awakening and clean fresh air, or rising on the thermals of the summer months, there is a great deal to enjoy from your lofted vantage point.

Hatfield House

Possibly the best attraction you will see on balloon flights over Hertfordshire will be the sprawling grounds of the imposing Hatfield House. Host to many private and public events throughout the year, such as weddings and parties, one of the best is its Christmas Frost Fair.

One of the finest examples of a Jacobean House in Britain, a balloon is the only way you can truly experience the gardens and parks of Hatfield House through the colder months. With its farm coming into view as you fly too, the flora and fauna beneath you makes for a delightful experience.

Vicarage Road

For an altogether different experience, the town of Watford offers a sprawling urban setting. It also presents a great view of one of Britain’s most famous football grounds. Home to Watford FC, Vicarage Road has seen the likes of England greats David James and John Barnes grace its pitch.

For football fans in particular, of course, but for any balloon travellers, seeing the dominance of a football pitch and its stadium is an inspiring sight. With football one of the most important aspects of modern British culture, the view from the air is an eye-opener for many.

Lee Valley White Water Centre

One of the finest man-made white-water slalom locations in the world, anyone experiencing the fantastic London Olympics in 2012 will be familiar with the Lee Valley centre. To see its meandering course from above, however, is something else, and gives s truly different dimension to balloon trips across the heart of the Herts countryside.
