Rutland Water is a large man-made reservoir located in the county of Rutland in the East Midlands region of England. The reservoir was created in the 1970s by constructing a dam across the River Gwash and flooding a large area of land. Rutland Water covers an area of over 3,000 acres and has a perimeter of 23 miles, making it one of the largest artificial lakes in Europe.
The lake and surrounding area are now a popular tourist destination, offering a wide range of outdoor activities such as sailing, fishing, cycling, and walking. The lake is also home to a variety of wildlife, including ospreys, waterfowl, and other bird species. There are several nature reserves located around the lake which provide a great opportunity to observe the wildlife in its natural habitat. The Rutland Water Park, situated on the south shore of the lake, is a popular visitor attraction with a range of facilities including a water park, an adventure playground, and a restaurant.
