Sailing through the skies of Sussex

Sussex is located in the southeast of England and boasts a beautiful countryside that can be seen for miles. This makes the county the perfect place to charter a hot air balloon ride, as you can take in the scenery whilst having a relaxing flight.

There are plenty of landmarks to look out for too, as Sussex offers a great blend of rural and urban settings that will keep you entertained throughout the duration of your trip.

Ashdown Forest

Many flights take off from near the stunning Ashdown Park Hotel, located in the Ashdown Forest. The 19th-century hotel is a spectacular building and can really be appreciated from both on the ground and up in the skies. The surrounding Ashdown Forest is part of the High Weald area of outstanding natural beauty, the fourth largest in the country. Here, hot air balloon rides drift over this stunning setting, giving visitors the chance to spot the local wildlife, including deer and many species of birds.

As well as the animals, you can take in the wonderful landscape and keep an eye out for some of the area’s most recognisable features, such as Friends Clump, an iconic group of pine trees, and Nutley Windmill. The forest makes for a tranquil and picturesque backdrop for a relaxing balloon flight.

Crawley

One of the largest towns in the county is Crawley, which is well known for being home to London Gatwick airport, the busiest single runway international airport in the world. Should your hot air balloon flight drift towards Crawley, you may catch a glimpse of an airplane taking off in the distance. This not only makes for a great view, as it’s not often that you get to see a plane take off from above, but it also presents itself as a fantastic photo opportunity as a souvenir from your flight.
