The best things to do in Bath this July

The beautiful city of Bath is so impressive that the whole area is a World Heritage Site, and has been so since 1987. As a result, it is not surprising that the Somerset city is a popular tourist destination today, as it has been since when people would travel across the country to take in its spa waters. If you are looking to get away for a relaxing city break this July, you could not choose a better destination than Bath. Here are just some of the great events and activities going on in the months of July: Hot air balloon rides In the UK, July is possibly the best month to embark on a hot air balloon ride, and Bath is certainly one of the most exciting cities to take such a trip, thanks to the many popular attractions located there. These include the River Avon, a number of Roman archaeological sites and the impressive piece of architecture that is Bath Abbey. Cock & Bull Festival in aid of Jamie's Farm Taking place on 22-24 July at a secret location close to Bath, this festival will see 40 acts play over four stages, and will include delicious local food, workshops, debates and even an egg throwing contest. All of the proceed from this event will go to Jamie’s Farm – a charity that works with disadvantaged young people with a view to helping them thrive and succeed, so you will not only have a great time, but you will be doing some good for the community if you attend. Bath Carnival Bath Carnival takes place this year on 12 July, and it is the perfect place to be if you are looking for a taste of South America without having to travel too far from your home. The Roman Baths by Torchlight Lovers of our country’s Roman history and couples looking for something romantic, but unique to do will not want to miss out on this fantastic event which takes place from 1 July – 31 August, and which gives visitors the opportunity to take in the historic site, including beautiful Roma artefacts and ancient stone paving, under cover of darkness, illuminated by torchlight, just like it would have been all those years ago when the Romans ruled. The event also offers visitors the chance to round off the evening with a delicious meal in either the Roman Bath Kitchen or Pump Room restaurant.
