Three things to do in Cambridgeshire in October

October is one of those weird months. Summer is well and truly over, and there is still a month to go until Christmas. This can make it a slow, boring month, which is difficult to get through. However, if you are proactive, it can actually be one of the most interesting and exciting months in the UK, especially if you live in, or visit, Cambridgeshire. The county, which is located in East Anglia, is a beautiful place where there is always something to do and see if you make the effort to get out to events and activities. To help you along, here are three things that you could do in the county this October: Hot air balloon flights Hot air balloon rides are probably not the first activity you think of participating in during the month of October, but they can be a lot of fun at any time of the year, and in October, you have the benefit of being able to see the changes that Autumn brings from a rather unique vantage point. What’s more, the lighting conditions of mid to late autumn can make local landmarks such as Anglesey Abbey, Gamsey Wood Nature Reserve and Nene Valley Railway look almost magical. Cambridge Art Fair Whether you’re an arty type, or you’re just looking for a fun way to spend some time in Cambridgeshire, The Cambridge Sat Fair, which takes place in Cambridge from 29th September until 2nd October, is a great place to spend a few hours. There will be a number of exhibitors at the fair, including Artists of Russia, Carina Haslam Art, The Fry Art Gallery, and Hanoi Art House, so there is bound to be something to catch your eye and keep you interested. Cambridge & District CAMRA 10th Cambridge Octoberfest Taking place on 14-15 October, at the University Social Club, this Oktoberfest celebration is the perfect place to unwind and let your air down, perhaps after a hot air balloon ride over the county of Cambridgeshire. If you decide to visit the festival, which has been running since 2007, expect to sample some of the finest real ale hailing from Germany – there will be between 30 and 35 on offer – and to try out beers which have been specially created for the event, and which are not available else there. So, why not take a trip to Cambridgeshire this October? It will certainly brighten up an otherwise dull month.
