In Somerset we fly from both Taunton and Wincanton. Somerset is the county that has everything – stunning countryside, dramatic moorland, the Somerset Levels, and endless sandy beaches. All of which can be enjoyed from the air! The county is also renowned for its history of fantastic ciders and delectable cheeses.
When flying over Somerset you may see some of the county’s fascinating heritage sites, such as King Arthur’s Cadbury Castle or the vast areas of heathland that made up the home of Lorna Doone.
Somerset is also traditionally associated with the construction of wicker baskets, which dates back hundreds of years. Some of the wicker in Somerset is even used to construct hot air balloon baskets! All of the baskets in our fleet are made of Somerset wicker, weaved around a steel frame.
Taunton is the capital of Somerset and is situated on the banks of the River Tone. The traditional market town plays home to many striking buildings such as Taunton Castle, the Municipal Hall and the Church of St Mary Magdalene. All of these sites can often be seen from the air!
You may also be able to see the Vale of Taunton – full of orchards, lush hedgerows, winding country lanes, as well as hamlets and willows growing along the streams. Taunton flights have views stretching across Bridgwater, Wellington and the Blackdown, Quantock & Brendon Hills reaching up to Exmoor.
We also fly from Wincaton Racecourse which is in a beautifully quiet setting just outside the town itself. Flights from Wincanton offer great views of traditional country villages, the Mendip Hills, Glastonbury Tor and even distant views of Dorset, Devon and Wiltshire.
